Playsafe Holding AS acquired the technology company Playsafe Norway AS at end of 2015, which added the technology rights to the Recycling Lottery to our portfolio.
The Recycling Lottery is a charity lottery utilizing the value of used beverage containers (bottles, cans, crates) returned through reverse vending machines. The customer is given an opportunity to use his refund value as a stake in a national lottery.
Playsafe Norway AS, together with Tomra Systems ASA (www.tomra.com) and The Olav Thon Gropu (www.olavthon.no), owns the patent for the Recycling Lottery.
The lottery is operational in Norway and Finland, where national licenses have been granted to the Norwegian Red Cross and the Finnish Save The Children Foundation respectively. The concept has been approved and is licensed also for Schleswig-Holstein (Germany).
The Recycling Lottery technology was reviewed and approved by NMi (www.nmi-gaming.com) according to the technical requirements of the Norwegian Gaming Authority, as well as the UK Gambling Commission technical standard for remote gaming. The system is also approved by the Finnish Gaming Authority for the Finnish market, and the RNG is approved by iTech Labs (www.itechlabs.com.au) for the Schleswig-Holstein (German) market.
